Handcrafted by Me

Over the years, I've taken one ceramics class, completed a tiny segment on ceramics in my crafts class, AND been to Petrogylph once.

These are the fruits of my labor! ...or some of them at least.

This one came premade, I just painted it.

The rest, which you can probably tell by the lumpy dimples, were handmade by me.

I used kids clay for this one, so it can't actually be glazed. Paint only, however it remains unpainted.
I don't know...paint just seems like a strange idea for ceramics...
outcome does not look good.

Beginning Drawing

The last post was about my Design work, this post is about my Drawing work. I took Beginning Drawing last quarter, which I must say I did NOT like because of the instructor, the assignments, the "mood" music (elevator rendition of Hotel California anyone?), and even little things down to the uncomfortable benches. Despite my dislike for the course however, some of the work is still blog worthy, and so I BLOG!

QUESTION: What do u guys think about the separated posts? It looks a little messier, but allows comments on individual pieces. Maybe not for all posts, but I think it might help to organize it into series of photos. Yes, no?

For the Love of Design

Last quarter I took a Design course and loved it. Absolutely loved it. I probably spent more time and effort for projects in that class than I ever have in any other class. It was all worth it though. I can honestly say that I have never been more happy with my artwork.

Just a couple projects...

Will Draw for Money$

Less than a year ago I bought a fresh sketchbook and just decided to draw whatever came to me.

BEST THING I ever did.

After the first few drawings, I came to a realization--this was the kind of fun that I wished would never stop. So, I decided that no longer would art be JUST a hobby. I knew I had to make creativity my career. Soon after, I picked up Graphic Design, and have been pretty content with my decision thus far. None of the usual doubt and second-guessing that I am used to when it comes to picking a major--this MUST be a sign it's meant to be.

...and as for the drawings in that sketchbook...

They are not epic revelations, or even complete, but I like them enough to be BLOG worthy!
Also, I added some color just to spice things up a little.

and no. I was NOT inspired by Octo-Mom.

I haven't sketched in awhile, but hopefully I'll get the chance soon! And if you like this post, let me know!

Until next post.

C'est mon bébé

I gave birth to this blog with a purpose.

Art is one of my passions--creating it as well as appreciating it. So, I won't be blogging about my life story per se , but rather logging my artwork and inspirations like an online portfolio. The plan is to track my growth as an artist, while getting it out there for any audience that might stroll by this little corner of the Internet. Nothing serious though, as this isn't actually a professional portfolio. So, don't be surprised if some random, or just plain strange posts are thrown in the mix from time to time.

Whether anyone ever reads this blog or not, I'll just be pleased to have my work out there--on the WORLD WIDE INTER WEB--where maybe someone will see it and have an opinion on it. And really, I would appreciate any opinions and feedback, whether negative or positive. Sure, criticisms will sting, but the point is to grow as an artist. To be a tougher, stronger, and more artistically advanced version of myself, by the end. Kristina 2.0! And of course, positive feedback is always a lovely way to know I'm doing something right, so please feel free to say whatever you feel. This blog is for everyone as much as it is for me.

I am looking forward to good times with old friends and new friends.
